1. Information We Collect
When you create an account on SelectiveExams, we collect the following information:
• Student full name and year level — to identify the student for leaderboard and reporting purposes.
• Parent/guardian full name — as the primary account holder.
• Email address — for account access, results delivery, and communications.
• Phone number — as parent/guardian contact information.
• Suburb, postcode and inferred or selected state/territory — for regional and audience analysis. Boundary-crossing postcodes require an explicit state/territory selection.
• School name (optional) — for aggregate insights only.
• Leaderboard identity consent — whether you consent to your child's abbreviated name appearing to signed-in users on the same monthly exam leaderboard.
• Premium badge consent — a separate guardian choice for each child, off by default, for showing a simple Premium badge on that child's opted-in leaderboard row.
We also collect exam responses, scores, and timing data as part of the exam experience.

2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
• Provide and operate the exam platform.
• Generate scores, monthly exam rankings, and detailed results.
• Show abbreviated display names on the signed-in monthly exam leaderboard (only with explicit identity consent).
• Show a simple Premium badge for a child only when that child's identity consent and separate badge consent are on and the account has a current entitlement. Siblings can have different badge choices. We do not show the plan, spend, billing cycle, cancellation, refund or access dates.
• Send exam results, reports, and important updates via email.
• Improve our platform and content based on aggregate, anonymised usage data.
• Contact you about your account or important service changes.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Children's Data
SelectiveExams is designed for use by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian. All accounts are created by the parent/guardian, and we require parental consent for:
• Account creation and data collection.
• Signed-in display of the student's abbreviated name on the monthly exam leaderboard.
• Any optional Premium badge, through separate guardian consent for each child's opted-in leaderboard row.
We take the protection of children's data seriously and comply with applicable Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

4. Data Storage & Security
Your account and product data are processed using Supabase and our other disclosed service providers. We use encrypted connections for data in transit, and Supabase Auth manages password hashing so the Platform does not store plain-text passwords.
Access to your personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only.

5. Data Sharing
We do not share your personal information with third parties except:
• Service providers — we use Supabase (database/auth), Vercel (hosting and aggregate analytics), Resend (email), Google Analytics (aggregate website analytics), and PostHog (privacy-filtered product analytics and masked session replay) to operate and improve the platform. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
• Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or government request.
• Signed-in leaderboard — signed-in users may see an abbreviated student name only if the parent has explicitly consented for that child. Non-consenting rows remain anonymous; their result and rank remain in the leaderboard. Identity consent can be withdrawn by contacting us, and separate Premium badge consent can be changed independently for each child in the account profile.

7. Cookies & Analytics Storage
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management, plus limited analytics storage to understand whether product journeys work. We do not use advertising cookies.
PostHog analytics events use our fixed, privacy-filtered event contract and a one-way account pseudonym. Those events do not intentionally include child names, email addresses, raw account, student, attempt or payment identifiers, exam answers or free text. Session replay shows ordinary page content so we can understand product journeys, while masking every form input and marked account-identity element. Profile, report, leaderboard, admin, authentication and identifier-bearing URLs are excluded. Console logs, canvas content, network requests and request/response bodies are not recorded.
